Who we are today!

We’re Chris and Jessica Hanna and we would rather travel than do just about anything else.  One of these days, we’ll be able to loosen the ropes to travel and document the planet full-time.  But until then, we’ll be seeking new things, whether in our own backyard, across the USA, or a foreign country, and we’ll be doing it one vacation at a time.

We hope you’ll take a few minutes avery once and a while to visit this travel blog and we’ll do our best to provide interesting narrative and photographs of the places we’ve visited.

Who we were before retirement from professional photography!

We are Chris and Jessica Hanna,and we love fashion and wedding photography!  All we do is talk about it: shooting, post production software, computers, back-up, equipment, location, lighting, lighting, lighting, and our next shoot. Every morning over coffee, we talk about it, and every evening we’re either discussing it some more or we’re studying it.  One time three years or so ago, we told each other we would have our morning coffee and NOT discuss photography. Well, after about fifteen minutes of nothing but sipping sounds, we talked about photography, and we have been every morning since.

We love to travel and when we do, we bring gear.  Oh yeah, its extra baggage and it can get a little risky having spendy equipment along, but on one trip a long time ago, we thought traveling light would be a good idea so we only took a couple of cheezy little point-&-shooters.  We’ve regretted it ever since.  We especially like to get off the beaten tourist path to see and capture real life and culture in the area were visiting.  So, all of our trips are as much extended photo shoots as they are vacations.  When we get home, we make a slide show of our favorite vacation photos and probably bore our friends and family to death with it.  Now that I think of it, we haven’t had company for quite a while.

Were always looking for a reason to practice photography in some way so we’re always looking for a photo op and we blog more than just photos of paid gigs.  Our photo-heavy blog includes what we hope is an interesting variety of photos targeting a varied audience.  A lot of the time the blogged photos include the technical data for the photo which we hope will be interesting or helpful to other photographers who check in.

We study photography pretty much constantly. even though I’m a full time civil engineer.  Our weekends are spent either shooting or studying photography, five out of seven evenings out of the week we study photography in some way, and since you’ve read this, you know we discuss our work every morning.  We’ve entered our photos in competition, and watched and learned plenty from photography judges. We’ve attended seminars by Hansen Fong, Bob Davis, Mike Colon, Yervant, Munoz, Buissink, Graf, Reggie, Zucker, Ziser and others, and running the daily business of Hanna Photography is what Jessica does full time.  Yep, photography is what happens around here pretty much constantly.  Of course, Jessica and I have different strengths which we each rely on.  Jessica is the tip of the sword and master at web design, Photoshop, Lightroom, slideshows, fashion and posing, I’m like the handle of the sword (or maybe the little tassel hanging from the handle of the sword) and the hardware and lighting guy.  At any rate, it takes all this to make great photographs.

We are a husband and wife fashion and wedding photography team.  And we love making people feel beautiful.
